Victory, V-I-C-T-O-R-Y, victory. It’s what everyone is after in the upcoming spring musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. A quirky musical about a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally quirky grown-ups.

This year’s musical will be relatively smaller than past performances. With a cast of 11 people, director Sarina Kledzik wanted to pick a show that had was truly an ensemble experience instead of there being one lead in the show.

“This is a show that allows the kids to improvise and we thought that would be a fun experience for the kids.” Kledzik states. “We are challenging them to perform a show that is outside of their comfort zone for them and for the directors.”

The musical will debut on Friday and Saturday April 22-23 at 7 pm in the PAC. If you are coming to the musical expect to laugh and be ready to spell. You never know you might end up being a contestant in the spelling bee. Nobody is safe at the bee!!!
