$440 collected in one minute.

As a way to raise money for the Eisenhower Scholarship Fund, the school participated in the Miracle Minute at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 23.

All students and staff were encouraged to leave their classrooms and donate as much money as they could to the representatives in the hallways in under one minute.

Mr. Tim Baker, Associate Principal, came up with the idea after reading an article about District 228 participating in this event on March 8, as well as other successful organizations in the past running the activity.

“We were looking for ways to support our seniors and help them pay for college,” says Baker. “Miracle Minute looked like a great way to get all our students involved.”

The number of scholarships given every year varies depending on the amount of money that is raised. In recent years, the average amount given at the Awards Night has been about $5,000 total.

A pep rally being held tomorrow on Friday, March 24 will also be supporting the Eisenhower Scholarship Fund. The main event planned for the assembly will be the Class Clash held from 2:30-3:15.
