The Eisenhower’s boys track team is four meets in to the start of the new season and has already taken second place at the Thornton Invite on Feb. 17.

The boys track team is run by head Coach Jeremy Ceja. This year, he mostly focuses on the distance team which consists of the quarter mile, half mile, mile and two mile as well as the pole vault.

This year, Ceja is hoping to out do last year’s performance of having two state qualifiers and taking third at conference.

“It’s a nice friendly team, we all treat each other like family. I think what makes us function so well and also what makes us such a close team is that we understand how we can contribute to the team and what we can do to make one another better,”says Josh English.

Josh English and Elihu Young, seniors, are the boys track returning state qualifiers. This year they hope to not only go to state, but also place in State. The track team’s other top runners are Nick Chapman, senior; and Miguel Ortega, junior.

Ceja believes that their relay team of Josh English, Elihu Young, Miguel Ortega and Jose Garcia, senior, are looking promising.

“I am confident if the kids continue working hard, we can improve upon last year’s performance”, says Coach Ceja.

The Boys Track Team next meet is away at Argo Community High School on Thursday, March 14.
