Viviana Castillo
My name is Viviana and I’m a sophomore. My interests include, but are not limited to: reading, writing, and listening to music. I’m currently writing about fifteen fan fiction stories. While my favorite genres to read include: Fiction, mystery, and, as of two years ago, mythology. My favorite band to listen to is Celtic Woman. I’m on the chess team. I have been writing since I was in seventh grade, about three years ago, and this is my first year with the Red and White. My future plans are to travel to Greece and study to get a degree in Veterinary medicine there. I chose to take Journalism because I feel like this can help me to further my writing skills and I am very excited to try something new. My favorite quotes are: “Veni, Vidi, Vici.” Translated from Italian, it means “I came, I saw, and I conquered.” The second quote that is my favorite is from Epicurus: “It is folly for a man to pray to the gods for that which he has the power to obtain by himself.”
My life motto is “know thyself” which was written at the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, based on what philosophers have deduced, it is about understanding oneself and therefore come to understand everyone else.
I have an older brother who graduated from Eisenhower and is in his third year of college.
I’m really excited to be a part of this years staff and I’ll close this with two quotes from Epicurus:
“You don’t develop courage by being happy in your relationships everyday. You develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity.”
“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.”
