The Red and White News

  • Welcome back to the 2019-20 school year
Joel Herrera
Well this is it! This is my last year on the team so let’s finish strong. I’m Joel Herrera and I am a senior here at Dwight D. Eisenhower High School. I am the Editor-in-chief or “The Chief” on the team and this is my third and final year writing for the school newspaper and let me tell you I’m going to miss it. I help lead the Christian club on campus called The Awakening. I am also a freshman mentor on campus. I enjoy hanging out with family and friends over weekends. My favorite place to go is the movie theaters. My all time favorite movie is between Saving Private Ryan or Captain America Civil War. My favorite food is pasta and I enjoy listening to music especially NGEN radio station. With time to spare, I tend to play video games or binge watch my favorite movies. I have two brothers, one sister, and a Boston Terrier named Tyson. The motto I live by is surround yourself with people who encourage to do good. I enjoy writing because it allows me to express my thoughts and feelings about a certain topic. The words I write have the power to change and persuade people. I chose Journalism because I enjoy informing society about what’s going on in the world and enjoy seeing what they do with the information I supply. I want to challenge and make the reader ponder about what they have read so that they would look into the story. Newspaper challenges me and that is what I enjoy. I am looking forward to the stories that are made right here a Dwight D. Eisenhower and the new experience of working on the web with the news. I hope you savor the stories here and continue to come back to The Red and White News.
